2Move

2Move encourages parents
and carers “To Move” with their children, helping children to learn the
fundamental movement skills, which are the basis for taking part in a
whole range of physical activity. The Central Council for Physical
Recreation (CCPR) commissioned the resource against a backdrop of
concerns over childhood obesity reaching epidemic proportions and low
levels of physical activity nationally. The Child Growth Foundation has
funded the project and HeartWell funded the acquisition of the Davey
Springy Bags used to help compliment the programme. This scheme is an
excellent idea and will help many young people to become active at an
early age. It will initially be covering Westcliff, Riddings, Manor Farm
and Lincoln Gardens. Aims of 2Move include:
-
Encourage young people to become more
agile and encourage basic skills in physical activity
-
Encourage children 2Move in their everyday lives
-
Build confidence in children moving and to increase their level of
physical activity This will be achieved by:
-
Promoting the concept that activity can take place outdoors and indoors
even in the smallest of spaces
-
Providing a resource that gives ideas on how children can move in their
everyday lives with their parents / carers
-
Promoting the concept that activity can take place using everyday household
items such as cans, toys and containers
