Heartwell Community Allotment

The HeartWell Community Allotment Group is based at the Buckingham Avenue site in Crosby, and was started with funds from HeartWell. The Group welcomes individuals, families and other groups of people of all ages who would like to try growing fruit, vegetables, flowers, or herbs. The Group offers an opportunity for gardening to be made easier with tools, help and support available - even digging is optional, because raised beds and paths for easier access have been built!

Allotment gardening has many benefits for the people involved; they have access to cheap fruit and vegetables, physical activity and social activity. A potential contribution of allotment to public health is very significant in terms of physical and mental good health, reducing stress, facilitating waste recycling and sustainable food production - forming a component part of healthy neighbourhoods.
